I'm a collector of luxurious and rare fabrics, well infact all kinds of fabric anything great to make knickers or bags out of. Every time I visit somewhere, old or new, I keep my eye out for unusual and eye catching pieces. Having had the opportunity to travel to many places in the UK and around the world I have had great pleasure in indulging myself in the world of textiles. There are some amazing and creative people out there. I love silk and am always checking out eco friendly fabric merchants, textile printers and retailers to purchase from. This is not always possible, but I try my best. The most loveliest fabric I have found to date was in the Gujerat where I came across the most fabulous fabric made from jute. The creators had put together some lovely earthy colours and embroidery to make the most marvellous sari material. I brought some back to make skirts and will be making some funky surf knickers with what's left. I will be researching Jute further and will keep you informed of any new designs I find or have designed. I think silk and jute is a wonderful fabric for knickers. I am a follower of sustainable design and am trying to be as sustainable as possible and try to create from an ecological point of view. Making in the UK for UK people will help to lower the carbon footprint. I research where possible into the history of fabrics that I purchase with a view that no chemicals are used within the fabric production and safe dyes are used. If this hasn't been possible its because it's from remnant fabric. If the fabric sourced is a large amount I try to investigate that the working environment of the cloth production unit is Fairtrade and that employees welfare are looked after and that the company employs a good working code. I rely on supplier honesty in some cases. For the larger production on dresses I use a reputable silk merchant based in London, remnants are used for creating lingerie and knickers designs. Smaller pieces of left over fabric go towards making jewellery, bags, corsages, purses and donations to schools and colleges. The internet has been a marvellous source of information for me since moving to Pembroke, Wales, UK. It's not as vibrant down here as in London for certain elements, so thank goodness for the web. Saying that, Wales has given me new ideas and challenges, now I'm by some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and floral and fauna is in abundance, I am once again spoilt by the eye candy the natural world has on offer. The internet has put me in touch with textile designers such as Amy Butler and Henry Glass of which I have made some lovely knicker designs from. I love making handbags, purses, dresses, tops corsages and knickers and mixing and matching different textiles together. I am inspired by many things, especially Japanese and Indian cultures, I love London very much especially the bars, food, mix of people and especially the markets. I had a stall at Spitalfields selling my handbag collection for some time and love the knowledge that people are walking around with my designs and the fact that I made something that made somebody happy. It's sad that things change especially places like Spitalfields, it all feels quite sterile now now but is still a great hub for up and coming designers. Well enough rambling, this brings me to the here and now. I'm making knickers, and other creations from all my fabulous finds and hope that you'll enjoy the fun, sexy, girlie elements that make up these individual designed and limited edition knickers, lingerie & dresses .
